Coach John Carlo "JC" Delute

Meet Coach JC – The Heart Behind Padayon Freediving, Head Coach and the first Oriental Dabaweño Freediving Instructor.

Coach JC’s love for the ocean started with scuba diving—but with no scuba shops in Mati, he had to find another way to explore the deep. That’s when he discovered freediving: no tanks, just one breath.

Like many beginners, he started without training—learning from YouTube and online forums. It was exciting but risky. When certified instructors visited his city, JC realized how much he didn’t know—and how important proper training really is. So he took the leap, trained hard, and kept going until he became a Molchanovs W2i Instructor.

Since then, he’s taught with heart, always putting safety, fun, and connection first. He’s also a former Red Cross First Aid Instructor, a certified tour guide, and a reef builder with RRREEFS— because for him, freediving isn’t just about depth. It’s about purpose.

Coach JC founded Padayon Freediving with a clear purpose: to give others the opportunity he wished he had when he started and create a safe, fun, and confidently knowledgeable freediving community.

Israfeel "Kikit" Apostol

Meet Kikit – The Steady Soul of Padayon Freediving, Lead Dive Guide and Community Leader

Long before he became Padayon Freediving’s Lead Guide, Kikit was already living life by the tides. He grew up in coastal Davao Oriental, where the ocean wasn’t just a backdrop—it was a way of life.

Kikit started as a spearfisher, diving for food and for peace of mind. Over time, the sea became more than a source of livelihood—it became a calling. With no formal training at first, he relied on instinct, experience, and the wisdom passed down through his community. But as he spent more time underwater, he saw the importance of doing things right: for safety, for sustainability, and for those who followed.

That’s why Kikit chose to train hard and earn his certifications as a Dive Guide, a Molchanovs Freediver, and a BLS Provider. He also became a licensed lifeguard and a trusted leader in his barangay—someone people turn to in and out of the water.

Today, he brings all of that to Padayon: calm leadership, strong skills, and a deep respect for the ocean and the people who dive in it. Whether you’re a first-timer or a regular, Kikit is the kind of guide who makes you feel safe, seen, and inspired to keep going—one breath at a time.

Reymund Palmera

Meet Reymund – The Lens Beneath the Surface, Assistant Instructor and Underwater Photographer

If you’ve seen the stunning underwater shots on Padayon’s feed, chances are Reymund was behind the lens—or diving right alongside the subject.

A Master Freediver with the eye of an artist, Reymund brings the deep blue to life through photography and film. But his story starts far from the camera. Before capturing moments, he was living them—diving on a single breath, rescuing lives, and guiding others to move with purpose and confidence underwater.

Reymund is Padayon's Assistant Instructor, and a Molchanovs Wave 3 Master Freediver. He’s also trained in water search and rescue, a certified lifeguard, Red Cross swimming instructor, and an active First Aid and BLS instructor. His background in teaching safety makes him an anchor in and out of the water.

Whether he’s documenting dives or helping students through their first breath-hold, Reymund shows up with calm focus, quiet strength, and deep care for both people and the ocean.

At Padayon Freediving, he bridges beauty and safety, art and advocacy—and reminds us that every dive is a story worth capturing.

Our Vision

We are passionate about promoting freediving as a sport - not just for performance, but as a powerful way to connect with self, community and the sea.

Our name, "Padayon," is a Visayan word meaning "to keep going" - a reminder of the journey of freediving itself. Every dive teaches us to move forward with calm, focus, and purpose. Whether it be for training, exploration, or advocacy.

With us, you're not just learning to dive - you're joining a movement that rises, flows, and breathes with the ocean.

Our Community

"In freediving, I learned things that only the sea has taught me:  stillness for my restless mind, a deep humility before the endless blue, and childlike wonder in the hidden world beneath the waves."

Fatima Bustillo-Ladaw, MD
Molchanovs Wave 2 Freediver

"I dive because the outdoors are my playground. It is an enjoyable form of excercise. it enables you to meet a version of yourself, you didn't really know existed. Water is power. 🫵🏼🧐"

Francisco Ladaw
Molchanovs Wave 2 Freediver

"From a non-swimmer who was severely afraid of the sea. I never imagined that I would take steps into becoming a freediver. Seeing the strength and courage that I have learned waddling around the open sea and discovering what I can do.
Slowly and surely."

Jasmine Ayop
Molchanovs Wave 1 Freediver

“Freediving has taught me discipline and obedience. You must control yourself when the instructor tells you to, and you must follow instructions to stay safe. Now, freediving is my way of measuring mental resilience and physical strength. I continue to train because, GOD willing, this skill may serve me well someday.”

RJ Prado
Freediver

"Big thanks to Coach JC for helping me unlock my goal and to Padayon Freediving for the amazing journey. Also sa free dive session haha. Can't wait to beat my last PB!"
